چکیده

Quantum communication (QC) systems harness modern physics through state-of-the-art optical engineering to provide revolutionary capabilities. An important concern for QC engineering is designing and prototyping these systems to evaluate the proposed capabilities. We apply the paradigm of software-defined communication for engineering QC systems to facilitate rapid prototyping and prototype comparisons. We detail how to decompose QC terminals into functional layers defining hardware, software, and middleware concerns, and we describe how each layer behaves. Using the superdense coding protocol as an example, we describe implementations of both the transmitter and receiver, and we present results from numerical simulations of the behavior. We conclude that the software-defined QC provides a robust framework in which to explore the large design space offered by this new regime of communication. © 2014 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) [DOI: 10.1117/1.OE.53.8.086103]

Software-defined subcarrier wave quantum networking operated by OpenFlow protocol

Future practical implementation of secure quantum communication technology in a multiuser network environment would require automatic monitoring of the optical link condition and quantum system parameters, along with adjusting them in real time according to protocol restrictions. We demonstrate how software-defined networking (SDN) paradigm can be used for addressing this problem on the example...

OpenFlow Arbitrated Programmable Network Channels for Managing Quantum Metadata

Software-defined networking (SDN) offers robust and flexible strategies for managing diverse network devices and uses. We adapt the principles of SDN to the deployment of quantum networks, which are composed from unique devices that operate according to the laws of quantum mechanics. Quantum networks must classically exchange complex metadata between devices in order to carry out information fo...

Simulation of IR Detector at Communication Window of 1550nm based on Graphene

In this paper, photodetection properties of a Graphene-based device at the third telecommunication window have been reported. The structure of the device is a Graphene-silicon Schottky junction which has been simulated in the form of an infrared photodetector. Graphene has specific electrical and optical properties which makes this material a good candidate for optoelectronic applications. Phot...
